BizMaverick Blog

BizMaverick blog is only one of a zillion other business blogs already on the Internet, so, why in the world would I create it? Well, here are my reasons:

1. I want my blog to be a companion site to this major information resource website. With a blog, I can add to, or expand on, ideas I present within this website.
2. There are way too many new small businesses failing in the world, and I would like to think that I can help at least a few of them avoid that pitfall. Of the 6.5 million new startups in the U.S. this year, about 5.5 million of them will disappear before they can even file an income tax return. This should not happen.

   Every new entrepreneur should be prepared to avoid failure, and I would like to help through this website and companion blog.

3. I become personally disheartened when I enter a business and quickly become aware that the business will likely not be there six months from now. The obvious lack of knowledge about starting and running that business is acutely obvious.

   But, since I can't change every struggling small business, perhaps I can make a small contribution to struggling entrepreneurs through this website and companion blog.

4. I am tremendously disappointed in the media hype regarding the "darlings" of the startup world--the high-tech startups. Unless a new business is trying to become the next Google or Facebook, it apparently is not worth the time and effort of most of the other blogs, websites, and commentaries from business gurus.

   The truth is that of the 6.5 million new startups in 2010, only 3,277 received Venture Capital. Yet, those 3, 277 new businesses received more attention that all the rest of the new businesses combined.
